A Real Patient's Story

Hear From Our Denture Patient

"Once I started going to Dr. Steven Schmid my dental problems were over. He made my upper and lower dentures. As I went thru the process he always explained everything that he was doing and going to do. He always listened to my concerns and always solved them. He's a very compassionate and by far the most knowledgeable  Dr. that I have ever gone to for my dental problems. He's the best at his trade.”

Denture Cost and Financing in Merritt Island

Your cost will depend on the type of denture you choose, the number of teeth being replaced, and any preparatory work like extractions or bone grafting. We’ll explain your full cost breakdown during your consultation so there are no surprises before treatment starts.

Traditional vs. Implant-Supported Pricing

Traditional dentures are the more affordable option, but they don’t feel as natural as implant-supported dentures. Implant-supported dentures cost more up front because of the surgical implant placement, but they protect the jawbone, stay fixed in place, and typically last longer without adjustments. We can help you explore each of your options during your consultation.

Insurance and CareCredit Financing

We accept most dental insurance plans and providers to help cover the cost of dentures. For costs not covered by insurance, including dental implants themselves, we accept CareCredit® financing, which breaks the cost of treatment into affordable monthly payments with low or no interest.

Implants Are the Best Choice For Healthy, Stable Tooth Replacement

Our Merritt Island, FL, dentists have undergone additional training to provide state-of-the-art dental implants. Unlike traditional dentures that only restore the visible part of the tooth above the gumline, implant-supported dentures use titanium dental implants that are placed in the jawbone to act as artificial tooth roots.

An implant-supported denture will be secured to the implants, providing an unbeatable level of stability and comfort. Furthermore, implant-supported restorations stay fixed in place at all times, so you can avoid the cumbersome maintenance that comes with removable options.

While implant-supported dentures provide a wealth of additional benefits, they also involve a more extensive procedure. Treatment takes place in multiple phases at our Merritt Island, FL, office over several months.

Lifelike Detail and Premium Restorations

What to Expect When Receiving Handcrafted Dentures

For the past decade, our dentists have worked with a trusted local lab to create lifelike traditional and implant-supported dentures. We closely collaborate with the lab technicians to ensure the best possible results and your ultimate satisfaction.

After receiving your handcrafted custom prosthetic, we personally handle the steps of fitting and adjustments. Rather than sending your restorations off to the dental lab for modifications, we streamline the process and bring the lab capabilities to our Merritt Island office. Our modern methods increase treatment efficiency and produce dentures that more closely match the aesthetics of your natural teeth.

Need Preparatory Treatment? Our Merritt Island Dental Practice Does That, Too

Patients with existing tooth decay or gum disease may require preparatory treatment before they are candidates for dentures. We can provide you with the necessary treatment to help ensure a healthy foundation for your restorations. Our dentists offer a wide variety of general and restorative treatment options to address all your needs.

The Treatment Process

Treatment at our Merritt Island, FL, dental practice is slightly different for each patient, depending on your individual needs and the type of denture you have selected; however, treatment for traditional full and partial dentures generally consists of these steps:

“This will be the second denture that Dr Wilku has done for me. I’m middle aged and the last one was over 4 years ago. This time around was amazing. So easy. I was in and out in 10 minutes or less!!!! Awesome dentist. I HIGHLY recommend Dr. Wilku” — Deanna, 5-Star Review

Preparatory Procedures

Before getting prosthetics, your gums and remaining teeth must be in good health. We can perform a range of restorative dentistry services to help you establish optimal oral health before treatment.

Detailed Impressions

Our dentists begin by taking detailed impressions of your smile to create a blueprint for your dentures. In addition to digital X-rays, we use a state-of-the-art cone beam CT scanner to capture the most precise 3D impressions.

Denture Fabrication

We send the impressions and designs to our partner dental lab to begin production. Depending on your needs and budget, your prosthetics can be made from various materials, including porcelain or acrylic.

Restoration

When your partial or full dentures are ready, you will return to our Merritt Island office for placement. During this time, our dentists make any necessary adjustments to ensure a comfortable fit. Over the next few weeks, as your muscles grow and adapt, wearing the denture will gradually feel more natural.

Maintaining Your Dentures

With proper care, your new dentures can last for 10 years or more. Maintenance will depend on your type of dentures.

Traditional Denture Care

Remove your dentures and brush them with a soft-bristled brush and a nonabrasive denture cleanser to remove food and other debris. Make sure to remove the denture adhesive from the grooves and apply new adhesive before you put them back in your mouth. You should also soak your dentures overnight in a denture cleanser while you sleep.

Implant-Supported Denture Care

Your implant-supported dentures are secured directly to the implants so you won't be able to remove them on your own, but your dentist may remove them during regular exams and cleanings. Brush your dentures as you would your natural teeth with a soft-bristled brush and nonabrasive toothpaste. Clean underneath them and around the implants with a floss threader.
